Internment Col Ohanesian

by Donna Fuller on 05/08/19

Greetings Marines,  Below please find details for the interment of Eudora A. Ohanesian (wife of Lt. Col. Victor Ohanesian,
Commanding Officer 2/3 RVN, KIA) in Arlington National Cemetery.  All Marines of 2/3 RVN (and attached units and individuals) are invited to attend as FAMILY.
Tentative attendees include Deborah Hayes-Mongiovi and Carl Mongiovi, Chuck Chritton, Bud Koval, Joe O'Conor, Kevin Moley and myself.
Attend if you can.  And if you can't, it would mean a lot to the Ohanesian Family to say a prayer for Eudora, her family and loved ones.  Semper Fidelis.

1400-1415 the family gathers at the Administration Building in the family room.
(you are all family - it would be nice to have you all join us there)
I believe between 1440 - 1445 - we will depart the building to go to the grave site on McKinley Drive.
We will be escorted so we can follow the lead car.
The actual interment is scheduled for 1500 hrs
After the interment we will attempt to find our way to the Old Guard Club.
Cold beer in Dad's memory.
Old Fashions in Moms' memory.
I'm sure I'll raise a glass or two for a toast and hope all will feel free to do the same!

I'm so delighted from your note and hope that those who can join us will - It would please our family and Mom and Dad.

Good morning Marines,
Our web site is looking good thanks to the hard work and efforts of Eric Shierman and Donna Fuller (don't have her e mail).  Many thanks to them both.
Please allow me to bring to your attention some observations of our web page (the one @ homestead) that I believe need some tweaking.  If I've missed something, kindly enlighten me.
There doesn't seem to be any "contact us" tab.
Our 2/3 V.V.A. logo is not displayed.
Our by-laws aren't posted.
The 4 optional tours for 2019 are still posted.  Didn't we vote out two and vote in two?
My name continues to appear on "F" Company's roster.  In spite of numerous efforts over the years to have it changed.  I affiliate with "81's".  If that's not possible, list me with "H&S"

A few more comments to inform all and put us on the same page.  Our Association has a name.  And 2/3/3 is not it.  As a matter of fact, if I recall, the membership voted specifically to NOT ever use 2/3/3.
Voting on Association matters takes place at the Membership Meeting held during the Annual Meeting.  If a 2/3 V.V.A. Marine wants to vote, he must be physically present at the Membership Meeting.  No proxy votes, no phoning in votes, no mailed in ballots, no e mail ballots, etc., etc.  Our Membership has discussed this issue a couple of times before.  At this late stage of the game, it might be wise to think twice before changing any aspect of our By-Laws.
Especially in light of the current Commandant's directions, singing of the U.S.M.C. Hymn should happen at least once during our Annual Reunions.
Introduction of new Marine & Corpsmen Members should take place early in the Annual Reunion (before the "Welcome Dinner"?), twice if necessary.  Reminders to wear name badges for the duration of the Annual Reunion should occur at all our sanctioned events.
We're looking forward to seeing our 2/3 Marines and Corpsmen in Portland, September 2019!Semper Fidelis.

 Respectfully Submitted,
 Mick Hughes

In answer to the recent posting of continuing
our discussion regarding a potential "Sunset Date"
of 2/3/3, I, personally, feelthat the timing of this
consideration is premature but if it comes to a vote,
we must initiate any and all venues for the most
amount of our membership to participate in the
"voting process."
This process should include voting at our annual
 meeting, e-mail, snail mail,
on-line and any other means sanctioned by our
membership.
This will be a major consideration which everyone
should have the opportunity to be a part of deciding.

From Mick Hughes End of 2/3 ?

by Donna Fuller on 03/28/19

Good morning Marines,  The attached link to a two page letter is good to open.  It's interesting in light of the discussion we had last September.
The subject of establishing a "sunset date" for our 2/3 Vietnam Veterans Association was brought up at our Membership Meeting at the 22nd Annual Reunion in Colorado.  After thinking on this since September 2018, the Membership in September 2019 will have an opportunity to decide if the Association will have a "sunset date".  The Membership should then decide what that date will be.
Personally, if a sunset date is established by the Membership at the 23rd Annual Reunion in Maine, I don't think it would be difficult for the Membership to change that date at any future Membership Meeting beyond 2019.  Just my thought.
I hope this note finds all of you thriving!  And looking forward to Portland, September 2019!
Feel free to circulate this e mail to our 2/3 VVA Membership.
Semper Fidelis.  Mick

On March 29, 2019, National Vietnam War Veterans Day honors the approximately 9 million veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces  during the Vietnam War.  The "day" was signed into law by President Trump on March 28, 2017.  Semper Fidelis.

To our "other" family: The Ohanesians want you all to know that

Mom will be interred with Dad on May 30, 2019 at a graveside service, Arlington National Cemetery - 3:00 (or 1500 hrs). We are only notifying the 2/3 as this is a "family affair" and we consider you "our" family. We would love to have you but clearly understand it may be too difficult for you - if you come,
you will be welcomed with a hug and a warm smile of appreciation. We will follow the service with a toast to both Mom and Dad at the Old Guard Bar. Beer was Dad's drink of choice! Please know we know very well, the Memorial Day week is a tough time to visit the DC area and we will know that
you are with us in spirit! If you want any other details or
decide you will be there, please call me directly
(or text or email me) With warm regards to all..........
