From the Prez Art Ward

by Donna Fuller on 03/29/19

In answer to the recent posting of continuing
our discussion regarding a potential "Sunset Date"
of 2/3/3, I, personally, feelthat the timing of this
consideration is premature but if it comes to a vote,
we must initiate any and all venues for the most
amount of our membership to participate in the
"voting process."
This process should include voting at our annual
 meeting, e-mail, snail mail,
on-line and any other means sanctioned by our
membership.
This will be a major consideration which everyone
should have the opportunity to be a part of deciding.

From Mick Hughes End of 2/3 ?

by Donna Fuller on 03/28/19

Good morning Marines,  The attached link to a two page letter is good to open.  It's interesting in light of the discussion we had last September.
The subject of establishing a "sunset date" for our 2/3 Vietnam Veterans Association was brought up at our Membership Meeting at the 22nd Annual Reunion in Colorado.  After thinking on this since September 2018, the Membership in September 2019 will have an opportunity to decide if the Association will have a "sunset date".  The Membership should then decide what that date will be.
Personally, if a sunset date is established by the Membership at the 23rd Annual Reunion in Maine, I don't think it would be difficult for the Membership to change that date at any future Membership Meeting beyond 2019.  Just my thought.
I hope this note finds all of you thriving!  And looking forward to Portland, September 2019!
Feel free to circulate this e mail to our 2/3 VVA Membership.
Semper Fidelis.  Mick

On March 29, 2019, National Vietnam War Veterans Day honors the approximately 9 million veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces  during the Vietnam War.  The "day" was signed into law by President Trump on March 28, 2017.  Semper Fidelis.

From Vicki OHANESIAN

To our "other" family: The Ohanesians want you all to know that

Mom will be interred with Dad on May 30, 2019 at a graveside service, Arlington National Cemetery - 3:00 (or 1500 hrs). We are only notifying the 2/3 as this is a "family affair" and we consider you "our" family. We would love to have you but clearly understand it may be too difficult for you - if you come,
you will be welcomed with a hug and a warm smile of appreciation. We will follow the service with a toast to both Mom and Dad at the Old Guard Bar. Beer was Dad's drink of choice! Please know we know very well, the Memorial Day week is a tough time to visit the DC area and we will know that
you are with us in spirit! If you want any other details or
decide you will be there, please call me directly
(or text or email me) With warm regards to all..........

She wants help

by Donna Fuller on 03/19/19

Hi, Ron

My name is Ashley Miller. I came across your page while searching the 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines page. My Father (Cpl. Dennis C. Miller) was a Marine who served in Vietnam. He was a part of Operation Scotland 2, Lancaster 2 and Kentucky. I recently received his military paperwork from the national archives. My Father passed away June 2017. About 12 years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and then shortly after developed severe dementia. He always told me when I got older he would tell me about the war. Unfortunately that wasn't able to happen as he didn't even know who I was after a couple years. I know Vietnam played a major role in his life as he was only a young teen when he enlisted. He received 8 medals/awards one of them being a purple heart. My Dad was everything to me. So finding out more about his life is very important to me. Not sure if anyone would remember him or knew him on the page, but I am curious.

I saw in order to post anything, I would need to e-mail you. I am just hoping to maybe know a little more about my Dad. After the Marines he went on to be a police officer in a suburb of Chicago. My Dad was a warrior until his last day. I really hope I can find someone who maybe knew or served with him.

I thank you so much for taking the time out to help me or post this e-mail. As always, thank you for your service as well.

Sincerely,
Ashley M. Miller
