Thank You Edyie Potts

by Donna Fuller on 09/06/16

This thank you was sent to 2/3 by family of Edyie Potts

I want to send a thank you note to 2/3/3 for sending the beautiful flowers to Al's funeral. I just don't know an address to send it to. Thank you. Al was so proud of all his Marine brothers. Love to all, Edyie

Mick, & Others,

Sounds like everyone had a good time. Sorry I couldn’t make it to Charleston.

Depending upon several factors, I should be able to attend next year’s reunion in San Antonio. That is only bout 75 miles down the road. At the least, I should be able to drop by during the days. We’ll just have to wait and see how things are at that time.

I would like to have seen MajGen Livingston again. After I had reverted back to enlisted, and returned from Okinawa, (about late 1970) I was assigned as the NCOIC of the 1stMarDiv NCO Leadership school at Camp Pendleton. Shortly after I took over that duty, we got a new OIC. “Captain” James Livingston reported in as such. I don’t think that he had received his MOH yet, for I don’t recall ever seeing him wear it on his uniform(s). Shortly, he was promoted to Major and transferred to another duty. He was a good Marine and I enjoyed working with him.

Thanks for the update on the Charleston reunion. Hope I can make it to San Antonio. Do you know at this time what month the reunion will be held?

After action report for Charleston 2/3 reunion.  I hope that members and guests had a great time, I know I did. My favorite
part, as always, is to welcome new, first-time attendees, really special to reconnect with our brothers from the past.  Our guest
speaker, MOH recipient MajGen James Livingston was outstanding and it was awesome that he took the time to greet and talk
with many of our members and guests. Also fantastic that Gold Star Mother Georgie Carter-Krell was able to join us.
Our auction raised close to $3800 - thank you to the donors and buyers - you make it happen!  Information/registration for
San Antonio should be ready in December or early January.  If anyone knows of Marines from 2/3 that need to reconnect please
notify Art Ferguson or myself.  Remember the dates - 26 Apr to 29 Apr 2017.  Plans are underway for Colorado Springs in September
2018, more on that later.
Thank you to everyone for making Charleston such a great experience, see you in San Antonio for 50th anniversary of the Hill Fights
and 20th anniversary of founding of 2/3 Vietnam Veterans Association.

Edyie Potts posted this regarding Al Potts funeral: A's full obituary will be in the paper Monday evening.
Here is a part of it:
The family will receive Visiting at Boylan funeral home Evans City Rd from 1-3 & 6-8 PM, Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
Full military service and committal will follow. Al’s ashes will be buried at family’s convenience.
Al was kind and generous. In his memory pay it forward, buy a stranger a meal, drop of a bag of food to a shelter, that is what he would want.

Eddie has passed.
