WILDLIFE:
Savannah is considered the heart of East Coast Alligator country.
The American Alligator favors slow moving or still bodies of water and tries to avoid salt water.  They don't require much food and have a tendency to feed at night.
The chances are very small that you will encounter an alligator during our Savannah Reunion 2024.  Heed posted signs and avoid their habitats.
To see American Alligators, head to the Savannah Wildlife Refuge 7 miles north of Downtown Savannah.  No need to leave your vehicle while taking in the sights.
From 1997-2014, 9 people were killed by gators in the U.S.A.  During that period 500 people were killed by dogs and 900 died from insect bites.

DOMESTIC ANIMALS:
For decades, 2/3 VVA Regular Members, Associate Members, Partners and Families have made arrangements for their pets to be cared for at home while they attended our Annual Reunion.  I suggest that practice continue.
In the case of Service Animals our standards are very liberal.  Likewise for Support Animals, Therapy Animals and even pets (if necessary).  If you choose to attend Reunion 2024 with an animal, please observe Embassy Suites Rules, and Chatham County, City of Savannah and State of Georgia Laws and Ordinances.
Anyone who opts to bring an animal to Our Reunion 2024, and while attending Reunion Functions (like Buffets, Dinners, Hospitality Room, Tours, etc.), please keep your animal in a carrier, on a handle or on a leash not more than six (6) feet long.

Things seem to be running smoothly with Embassy Suites, A.F.R.I. and the Old Town Trolley representatives.  Our Savannah Reunion 2024 should have a lot to offer for each and every attendee.
Let's all stay safe and healthy in the run-up to Savannah, during our Reunion and beyond.
We're looking forward to seeing a great bunch of folks (with your lizards, parrots, fish, snakes, ferrets, etc. that you must bring along) in a super venue!
God Bless and Semper Fidelis.  Mick
