Transportation in Savannah

by Donna Fuller on 07/07/24

Ladies and Gentlemen,  Below is T.I.P.S. # 5: TRANSPORTATION (7/6/2024)
INDEX:
T.I.P.S. #1:   Where to Go to get all Information About Savannah and Pooler, GA
T.I.P.S. #2:   Registering with Embassy Suites (Airport) and Armed Forces Reunions, Inc.
T.I.P.S. #3:   Things to Do
T.I.P.S. #4:   Animals
T.I.P.S. #5:   TRANSPORTATION

1.   AIRPORT SHUTTLE.  Operated by Embassy Suites (Airport) from 0700 to 1900 between the hotel and Savannah International Airport (SAV)  Call the Front Desk (912 330-8222) a few days ahead of time and be guided by their instructions.
2.   TAXIS.  Never used 'em.  Made a couple of calls to different companies and wasn't overly impressed.  Black Car service is available but did not investigate.
3.   UBER & LYFT:  The UBER service was great and was used 6-8 times.  Fares varied from $24 to $32 to and from Savannah and Embassy Suites (Airport).  That was for one person.  Split it 2 or 4 ways, add the tip and you've got lot of value.
If you don't have either transport service on your smart phone, ask any 12 year old to install UBER.  Simply link your credit card to the app.  It's easy to operate.  Tip the driver using card or cash.
4.   TOURS.  Both our Association Tours have transportation to and from Downtown Savannah and Embassy Suites (Airport).
5.   SAVANNAH DEPARTMENT of TRANSPORTATION:  If you're interested, look into the following.
     A.  FREE Ferry Service between Riverfront Savannah and Hutchinson Island in the Savannah
River (Westin Hotel, the City's Convention Center, golf and spa available).
     B.  FREE Bus "The Forsythe Loop".
     C.  FREE Bus "The Downtown Loop".
6.  PEDICAB TAXIS.  Royal. chris@royalbiketaxi.com  912 341-3944.  Call or email them.  Or just flag one down during your visit to Savannah.
7.  PERSONALLY OWNED VEHICLE (POV).  The early bird catches the worm.  There is some street parking (if you can find a spot) that usually involves parking meters or time limitations (like Two Hour Limit) or both.  There are also some "for a fee" parking lots and parking garages.

Happy 248th Birthday to the United States of America!  Enjoy the long weekend!  Semper Fidelis
