From Mick on 4 July 2026
Marines, Associate Members,
Family and Friends,
Of all the Holidays we
recognize in the United States of America, the FOURTH of JULY is the most
significant. Without the FOURTH of JULY, there would be no other holidays
to celebrate.
And without the ARMED FORCES
of THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA and SUPPORTERS of those FORCES, Americans would
have only EIGHT Fourths of July to celebrate, from 4 July 1776 until 4 July
1783. After overcoming HUGE obstacles, our American Revolution ended with
the signing of the Treaty of Paris, 3 September 1783. Our Independence
from Great Britain was finalized.
Today we AMERICANS celebrate
250 YEARS of INDEPENDENCE "from one End of this Continent to the other
from this Time forward forever more" (John Adams, 3 July 1776). 250
FOURTHS of JULY! We've earned it!
Be eternally vigilant in
safeguarding our Independence and we'll have lots more FOURTHS of JULY to
celebrate.
Semper Fidelis. Mick
Hughes, V.P.
