Jim Donovan

Jim passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011.

Jim Donovan, 74, a teacher at Weatherford College went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Decatur, Texas.  

Memorial Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 25th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Jim was born October 27, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Marcelline (Collins) Donovan. He received his Master's in education from East Texas State University, He married Carol Stout on May 18, 1974 in Alvord, Texas.

Jim served in the United States Marine Corp for nine years and retired from the United States Army Reserve with 39 years of service. He had two tours in Vietnam and was activated during Desert Storm.

Jim had a 20 year teaching career and upon retirement, he began teaching history classes at Weatherford College. He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, a member of the Wise County Veteran's Group and a member of the 2/3 Marines Association.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Carol Donovan of Decatur, son, Brad Donovan and wife Annie of McKinney and granddaughter Jilian Grace Donovan.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charlie and Tom Donovan.
